I woke up early this morning, so anxious to hear from Joey. I checked my computer at 5 AM (1 PM their time) but hadn't heard anything yet. I kept checking, and finally at 7 AM, I had an email from Joey. They were back in Sofia, in their hotel room, all settled in. I called him on Skype and he answered right away. And there was Archie! With the biggest smile on his face, he just shouted "Mommy, mommy, mommy!!" He looked so happy, which was such a relief for me. I really wasn't sure how he would feel having just left the only world he has ever known. His buddies, his caretakers. Joey said he did great. They had a huge send-off for him at the orphanage. I know that it was so hard for them to say goodbye to Archie. There were a lot of tears. However, as I said before, they are all so happy and thankful that he has a family. It would have been a whole different if they were waving goodbye to him as he headed to an institution.
I ran and yanked Ace out of bed and told her that Archie was on the computer. She was so excited! Better than Christmas morning! They were both so happy to see each other and Archie just kept repeating, "Ace, Ace, Ace!" We pretty much stared at each other, made silly faces, and played peek-a-boo for about half an hour. It is tough since he really doesn't understand us, but I just kept saying, "I love you!" and by the end of our Skype Date, he was saying "I lub you" all on his own. I think he knows what that means.
After that it was time for a nap. Although it turns out neither of them slept at all. Joey said they just laid there and looked at each other for over an hour. Archie loves to imitate. So every move Joey would make, he did the exact same thing. From pulling up the covers, to scratching his nose.
Tomorrow will be a more exciting post because I should have pictures of the day from Whitney!! But I just wanted to let everyone know that Gotcha Day was perfect and all is well with the boys!
I will leave you with one cute picture that Joey sent me.
First bath! All cleaned up!Finally!
Lots of Love!
